David Hall - Principal Associate at Mills & Reeve LLP
David Hall is a digital technology, IP and data lawyer at Mills & Reeve, and leads our technology work in Birmingham. He advises on the commercial, information/data law, IP and contractual implications of digital technology: devices; networks and cloud services; firmware, apps and enterprise systems; security measures; integrations; managed services.
David advises across all sectors served by Mills & Reeve. The CEO of a client that provides financial services software/ SaaS said, “… absolutely outstanding, and I don’t recall ever working with a lawyer with such commercial acumen combined with this level of technical awareness and understanding, and its implications for the client”.
David will be discussing the following information:

Chris Woodcock - Director at Empowering You Ltd
As Partnerships Director at Empowering You, Chris is responsible for developing collaborative relationships across government, industry and academia with organisations who share their vision for a more diverse, inclusive and successful tech eco-system. Prior to Empowering You, Chris had over 20 years’ experience of commercial leadership roles in the media, events, and government relations sectors, as well as establishing his own communications consultancy.
Chris will be providing an overview of the “Empowering Women to Lead Cyber Security” initiative, which has been running across the UK for the past 18 months and will be expanding to the Midlands later this year. This unique, cross-sector initiative is supported by industry and government partners including techUK and the Government Security Group in Cabinet Office, with the goal of developing a sustainable community of empowered and empowering female InfoSec professionals across the UK.
Regional programmes are already established in London & Southern England, Northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, so this will be an opportunity for Chris to outline the initiative’s aims for the Midlands, share best practice on how the initiative has worked in other regions and hear first hand from cluster members what work is already underway to tackle gender diversity in the profession across the Midlands and where there may be opportunities to collaborate on shared priorities.
