Herefordshire Digital Forum - An evolution of industry
09 Sep 2025
Midlands Cyber was delighted to host the next stage of the Herefordshire Digital Forum on the 2nd September, held at the Midlands Centre for Cyber Security. The refreshed forum builds on the success of previous activity in the county, expanding its focus to the wider digital economy whilst continuing to recognise the central role of cyber security as an enabler for growth.
An Interactive, Audience-Led Approach
This re-launch was designed to feel different. Using Slido technology to capture live feedback and ideas, the forum was highly interactive, with participants shaping the discussion in real time. Rather than a traditional presentation format, the conversations were led by the audience; reflecting the priorities and challenges most relevant to the businesses, educators, and public sector stakeholders in the room.
This dynamic approach created a strong sense of shared ownership and ensured that the topics discussed directly addressed the needs of Herefordshire’s digital community.
Insights from Innovation Leaders
The forum also featured a guest speaker, Donston Powell from BetaDen, who provided valuable insights on innovation and the critical role incubators can play in regional growth. He highlighted the benefits of introducing more incubator-style support within Herefordshire, helping start-ups and scale-ups to access the resources, mentoring, and networks needed to thrive. His contribution reinforced the importance of creating the right conditions for innovation-driven businesses to succeed.
Cyber Roundtables
Alongside the main forum, senior leaders convened for an invite-only cyber roundtable from across Herefordshire. These closed discussions provided space to examine key issues in greater depth, including workforce development, resilience, and the county’s role within the wider Cyber Triangle of Hereford, Malvern, and Cheltenham.
Looking Ahead
The re-launch of the Herefordshire Digital Forum marks a new chapter for digital and cyber collaboration in the county. By bringing stakeholders together in an interactive and inclusive format, the forum has established itself as a platform where conversations are not only heard but acted upon. Midlands Cyber is committed to ensuring that this momentum continues, supporting the growth of Herefordshire’s digital ecosystem and strengthening its connections to the wider regional and national landscape. We look forward to the next forum and to working closely with our partners to turn these conversations into action.
